What is the relationship between personal appearance and income? Jiang Chuan and Zhang Ke from School of Management, Huazhong University of Science answered this question in a recently published research paper. Through complex mathematical calculations, they managed to conclude that: Height of female employees increases by 1 cm, their wages will increase by 1.5% – 2.2%. The more than 30,000-word dissertation has recently been published in “The Economist (Quarterly)”(core journal hosted by Peking University) which is issued by China Center for Economic Research.

The paper also provides that at different income levels, the impacts of height and weight on income level among the female employees also differentiate. In comparison, the effect of height and weight over income level among male employees in China is not obvious.
