On May 30, Taiwan’s quality supervision department found a kind of industrial additive, namely EDTA-2Na which can absorb heavy metals and cause harm to humans, from the products manufactured by Rico Industrial Co., Ltd (立光农工股份有限公司).

On  the next day of the discovery of the EDTA-2Na, Uni-President announced the removal of “unified pudding” and other 6 kinds of related products from shelves in Taiwan.

In contrast, the “unified pudding” is still on sale in mainland of China under “buy one free one” promotion in Shanghai.  The Uni-President China insisted that the pudding raw materials used are imported from Chile with hygiene certificate and thus the pudding is safe.
