U.S. Open – 2-1 Li Na enters semi-finals for the first time

Beijing time on morning of 4th September, in the 2013 U.S. Open women’s singles 1/ 4 finals, Chinese tennis player Li Na in a three-set match with 6-4,6-7 ( 5 ), 6-2 achieved a historical victory over Russian Pink Makarova, and entered the semi-finals for the first time, creating her personal best record in the U.S. open.

Focus of game

Li Na exhibited very good competitive status in the 2013 U.S. Open. Following the successful revenge against Britain Robson in the third round, she grasped a 2:0 win against Jankovic. In today’s game, her opponent was Pink Makarova (Russian, currently ranked No. 25) who knocked out Polish genius A. Radwanska in the last round of games surprising the world.

The semifinals opponent for Li Na will be the winner between top seed player Serena Williams and Spaniard Navarro. Li Na is at absolute disadvantage against Serena with a recent loss to her in Cincinnati. When asked about the perspective for the next game, Li Na answered: “Today I will not think about tennis, I want to have a rest, and then prepare tomorrow’s training, she (Serena) is a very tough opponent , and playing match with her is a very big challenge. We met in Cincinnati, the score was very close and I certainly have a chance to win the game, but I do not watch her match tonight.”
