Japan Coast Guard said at 9:30 local time on the 23rd of May (GMT 8:30), three China ocean surveillance ships
were found patrolling in the waters 12 sea miles away from Diaoyu Islands. Report said it marked the new confrontation of Diaoyu Islands since Japan’s claimed “nationalization” of the islands last September.

Chinese Foreign Ministry had repeatedly stressed that the Diaoyu Islands are China’s inherent territory since ancient times. Chinese ships’ patrolling in waters under the jurisdiction is performing normal official tasks.
