Testing goldfish died suddenly, tap water supply stopped in emergency in Tianquan County

On April 25, reporter learned from the earthquake relief headquarter of Tianquan County that over one hundred testing goldfish suddenly died in the biological observation pool in the town water factory. Through initiative investigation it was believed that the water contained exceeded level of aluminum compared to the standard.

It is understood that at 21 o’clock in the evening of April 23, over one hundred testing goldfish suddenly died in the biological observation pool in the Sijing town water factory. Based on the examination on the 6 nos of water samples by Sichuan Provincial Center for Disease Control, excessive levels of aluminum (normal aluminum level is 0.2, level in samples was between 0.26 to 0.37) was confirmed while no abnormality was found in other indicators compared with the rural drinking water standards.

Soon after the goldfish death, the water supply plant had stopped the water supply. Disease control department will continue the monitoring of water quality, water supply will be resumed only when the test results meet the rural drinking water standards.
