Shenzhou 10 astronauts successfully conducted China’s first space lecture

China’s first space teaching activity was successfully held on the morning of the 20th June, the Shenzhou 10 astronauts in Tiangong-1 (天宫一号) space station showed the physical phenomena of weightless environment.

Space lecture was held by the female astronaut Wang Yaping. The other two male astronauts also participated the first Chinese space class (Nie Haisheng worked as teaching assistant, Zhang Xiaoguang worked as cameraman).

In the about 40 minutes class, the astronauts demonstrates five basic physics experiments including quality measurement, pendulum motion, gyroscopic motion, water film and water polo showing physical phenomena such as the movement of objects in weightless environment and liquid surface tension. They explained the physical principles behind the experiments and communicated with the classroom teachers and students on the ground.
