Ministry of Transportation: 97% of China’s roads will be free in the future

China’s State Council Information Office on the 20th held a “National Road Network Planning (2013 – 2030)” press conference in Beijing, in response to ChinaNews agency reporter Ti Wenshi’s question, chief engineer of the Ministry of Transport of China, Dai Dongchang said that during China’s national road network top planning process, policy researches had been done regarding the future trends of toll and non-toll road transportation services.

China National Development and Reform Commission Secretary Huang Min added that the future integrated transport system will consist of 97% or more free ordinary roads and less than 3% toll based highway. From point A to point B, in the future people will have two choices, both chargeable highway and free ordinary roads.
