Lenovo’s first financial quarter net profit hit $ 174 million

On August 15, Lenovo Group released performance report of the first financial quarter for fiscal year 2013-2014, according to the results, the total sales during the period reached $ 8.787 billion, an increase of 9.71% wherein the mobile Internet and Digital Home (MIDH) business income rose by 105% to $ 1.203 billion, the personal computer operating income rose by 2% to $ 7.307 billion, revenue of other goods and services amounted $ 277 million, down 2%.

During the first financial quarter the net profit of Lenovo was $ 174 million, representing an increase of $ 33 million, an increase of 23.03%. Gross profit margin grew by 0.5 percentage points from 13.1% of the same period last year. Basic earnings per share and diluted earnings per share were $ 1.67 and $ 1.65, representing an increase of $ 0.30 and $ 0.32 respectively.

Business performance

Performance of personal computer sector was 10% higher than the global average level. According to preliminary industry estimates, Lenovo in the first quarter of this fiscal year was promoted to the no.1 place in the global personal computer market, its market share rose by 1.7 percentage points to a record high of 16.7%.

Global sales of Lenovo smart phones increased by more than 130 percent year on year, reaching a record high of 11.4 million. Lenovo in the first quarter of this fiscal year was ranked as the fourth largest smart phone vendor in the global smart phone market.

Tablet PC sales grew more than three times to a record high of 1.5 million. In the first quarter of this fiscal year, Lenovo was ranked as the fifth largest tablet manufacturer in the world.
