Lenovo CEO, Yang Yuanqing said Apple’s leadership has been shaken

Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing has set the benchmark on the Apple and Samsung! “With the coming of the PC plus era, an unprecedented industry storm has arrived bringing great change at a speed that is beyond our imagination”, said Yang.

Apple’s closed system exhibits weakness

“In the past few years, the tablet market has been led by Apple, other brands have only small chance, but now, Apple’s leadership has been shaken, they insist on a ‘closed system’ which is showing signs of weakness, the strategy of using a product to conquer the world has fading away, more and more people believe that Apple will eventually repeat its failure in the field of personal computers.”

IDC: Lenovo topped the Chinese smart connected device (智能终端) market

2012 global market research firm IDC released the global smart connected device market report (including smart phones, tablet PCs, portable PCs, and desktop) showing that last year’s sales volume of smart connected device was 367.7 million units. Smartphone shipments grew by 46.1%, increase in tablet PC shipments year-on-year increase was 78.4%. Smartphone and tablet PCs accounted for more than 70% of last year’s global smart connected device total sales, portable PC and desktop shipments showed different degrees of decline. In the global market, Samsung’s market share was 20.8% in 2012 ranking the first, Apple was ranked second with market share of 18.2% while Lenovo was ranked third in market with only 6.5%.

However, in the Chinese market, IDC statistics showed that in the fourth quarter of 2012, Lenovo with a 17.9% market share topped the Chinese market, Samsung and Apple were the second and third with the market share of 12.5% and 8.0% respectively.
