Egypt Luxor chief prosecutor Mohamed Fahmy on the 5th June announced that the occurred hot-air balloon accident in February this year was caused by human error.
Fahmi said in a statement that the official investigation report concluded that the cause of the explosion was the gas leaking from the air supply hose was installed by a nonprofessional worker. Fahmi told Xinhua News Agency that the pilots and maintenance engineer before take-off did not carry out necessary technical checks.
On February 26 this year, a hot-air balloon explosion occurred in the tourist city of Luxor in southern Egypt which killed 19 people including nine Hong Kong tourists.
