Earthquate feeling in Dongguan, Guangdong, China on 11:45AM 22nd Feb 2013

Around 11:34AM 22nd Feb 2013, a sense of an about 10-second earthquake was felt widely in South China’s Guangdong Province as well as some areas in the neighboring Fujian Province with no damages and casualty being recorded so far. Based on the CENC (China Earthquake Net Center), a 4.8 scale earthquake was detected in Heyuan City, Guangdong Province (40 degree North Latitude & 113.9 degree East Longitude). According to an official from the Guangdong Provincial Earthquake Administration, the center of this earthquake is located in the north edge of the Heyuan Fengjiang Reservoir but it should not be caused by the reservoir based on the preliminary investigation. On 31 Aug 2012, an earthquake happened in the same place and last time some experts warned that earthquake was triggered by the project of the reservoir though it was not confirmed by the authority.
