On 31 May, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang chaired a State Council executive meeting to further strengthen the quality and safety of infant formula in China. The meeting stressed the State Council will strictly regulate and monitor the infant formula product quality using the same methods currently adopted to regulate the drugs in term of the use of electronic monitoring code and other means to achieve full traceability. At the same time China’s State Council will also adopt methods to accelerate the regulatory system targeting at the online sales of infant formula products. Also the imported infant milk powder will also be subject to strict quality control.
