China to accelerate the development of energy-saving and environmental protection industries

Consolidated Report by ChinaAbout.net: Chinese Premier Li Keqiang chaired a State Council executive meeting yesterday in which he pledged to accelerate the energy-saving and environmental protection industries.

During the merting, Li called to accelerate the development of energy-saving and environmental protection industries, which requires both policy support as well as innovative mechanisms to encourage and guide social capital including private capital. Four major directions have been highlighted. The first direction is to promote energy saving and renewable product consumption, Government official vehicles, buses should take the lead to promote the use of new energy vehicles. By 2015, the market share of energy efficient products shall increase to 50% or more. Second, industrial technology and equipment shall be upgraded, for example efficiency boilers, energy efficient motors and other technology and equipments shall be upgraded. The government also targets at speeding up the development of atmosphere, water and soil pollution control technology and equipments. Third, the government aims at speeding up the construction of key projects of energy saving, improving the urban sewage pipe network and other environment related infrastructure, developing green building projects. Fourth, the government would also focus on creating favorable market and policy environment with sound regulations and standards, improving the price, charges and land trading policy to serve the market better.
