China Supreme Court: criminal violations of the rights of minors will receive heavy sentence

On 29th May, the Supreme People’s Court announced three typical criminal cases in respect of violations of the interests of minors. An official of the Supreme People’s Court said, the Supreme Court will guide future courts at all levels to further increase punishment for violations of rights of minors and adhere to the minimum level of tolerance.

The official suggested that, with the economic and social transformation, parents’ and relevant agencies’ monitoring awareness allocated to children is not high, preventive measures are not sufficient and also so many other factors together lead to the happening of unwanted incidents such as physically abuse, sexual abuse and other criminal cases.
