Central financial subsidy for energy saving home appliances comes to an end

Ministry of Finance, Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology jointly issued an announcement ordering that from 1 June 2013 onwards, consumers buying air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, water heaters, energy-efficient appliances will no longer enjoy the central financial subsidy.

In order to expand domestic demand and stimulate green consumption, promote energy conservation, in June 2012, the State Council decided to offer the financial subsidies to promote five types of efficient appliances including air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, water heaters.

Ministry of Finance official said, since the implementation of policies, the results were remarkable as the energy-saving appliances market share increased dramatically, stimulating consumption effect.
