Central bank governor Zhou Xiaochuan: prudent monetary policy will be continued

April 20, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Financial Committee (IMFC) held the twenty-seventh Ministerial Conference in Washington, DC. The meeting mainly discussed the current situation and risk of the global economy and financial markets, the global policy agenda and the IMF reform. The People’s Bank of China Governor Zhou Xiaochuan and deputy governor Yi Gang attended the meeting.

Zhou Xiaochuan pointed out that with the global economic uncertainty, the Chinese government has strengthened macro-control, and attaches great importance to structural reforms, the economy maintained solid growth and the price level is basically stable together with a better balance of international payments. In the first quarter of this year, China’s economy obtained steady progress, GDP grew by 7.7%. The Chinese government will continue to adhere to a proactive fiscal policy and prudent monetary policy to promote economic growth and maintain price stability.
