Bill Gates: China helped 600 million people out of poverty in 30 years

According to Hainan Daily report, in the “investment for poor” dialogue meeting held on 6th, April at the 2013 Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference, Bill Gates said “It is a great miracle that China helped 600 million people out of poverty in 30 years, and increased the income of the farmers by 15 times, contributing to the goal of halving the world poor population.

Gates also said that in the past 20 years, China’s grain productivity has been increased annually by 2.6%, and China has the world’s largest number of smart phones. The breakthroughs in the science and technology development helped the rest of the world’s poorest people lead a healthier, richer life of dignity.

He said that the Gates Foundation, has been constantly thinking about how to work together with China to solve the problem of poverty in other regions of the world. Since 2007, the Foundation is very active in activities in China, and work closely with the Chinese government in several areas, including in the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis. The Foundation is also committed to efforts to reduce tobacco use. In term of charity cooperation with China, the Gates  Foundation hopes to create mutually beneficial partnerships and China, make full use of China’s development experience and strong R&D strength and advantage of lower-cost production of high-quality products.

Bill Gates called for all China’s most successful entrepreneurs and business people to engage in the using of the market investment techniques and rigour to seek solutions for the world poverty issue and establish a more peaceful and prosperous world.
