Bilateral visa exemption may come into effect in September 2013 between China and Thailand

According to Thailand “World News” report, Thailand and China are now under negotiations to initiate mutual exemption of tourist visa starting from September this year. Thai Prime Minister Yingluck welcomed the proposal with hoped to attract five million Chinese tourists each year to Thailand, he requested to intensify the activities of sister cities with China to promote trade and investment.

The current annual number of Chinese tourists to Thailand is only 2 million, the exemption of tourist visits may allow the number to increase to 3 to 4 million. Previously, the Chinese film “Thai embarrassing (泰囧)” had made Thailand a hot travel destination among the Chinese tourists.
