Beijing 2015 intends to promote a total of 50,000 electric vehicles by 2015

May 22, Tsinghua Automotive Engineering Department, Director of Automotive Safety and Energy National Key Laboratory, Ouyang Ming Gao said that Beijing planned to promote electric vehicles and targeted to achieve a total number of 50,000 by 2015 out of which 30,000 will be for private use.

According to the CNR report, by 2015, there are about 8,000 buses in Beijing which are pure electric or hybrid vehicles accounting for 1/3 of all the buses. And there are about 10,000 public service vehicles and taxis to be updated for the pure electric or hybrid vehicles. In logistics, sanitation, postal services, leasing and other areas, there will be 2,000 vehicles to be updated for the pure electric or hybrid vehicles.

In term of the private electric car promotion, by 2015 Beijing plans to add or update 30,000 electric vehicles. Moreover, Beijing is now to increase the promote efforts of the private purchase of pure electric vehicles.
