An once-in-200-year storm caused 40 people killed

According to Voice of China “CNR News” report, since May, Guangdong suffered continuous heavy rains, which according to experts was once in 200 years.

According to the information from the Guangdong Provincial Government Emergency Management Office, cut-off to morning of yesterday (19 days) strong rainfall covering Guangzhou, Shaoguan, Heyuan, Meizhou, Huizhou, Zhaoqing, Qingyuan, Chaozhou, Jieyang, Yunfu and other 10 cities, 33 countis affected a total population of 1.37 million people, 40 people killed,10 missing and an emergency transfer of 145.8 thousand.

16:00 yesterday, in accordance with the provisions of the Guangdong Meteorological disaster contingency plans, the major weather disaster emergency office started the Level 3 meteorological disasters rainstorm emergency response (气象灾害暴雨三级应急响应) plan.
