As of April 5, 2013, China has reported a total of 16 confirmed cases of human infection with the H7N9 avian influenza, including 6 deaths. The cases were distributed in Shanghai (6 cases, death four cases), Jiangsu (6 cases), Anhui (1), Zhejiang (3 cases and 2 deaths). At present there is no epidemiological link between the reported 16 confirmed cases found. All close contacts of the cases have been taken under medical observation. Only a close contact was found with the symptoms, but had been ruled out of human infection with the H7N9 avian. Currently no case is found regarding infection from the person to person.
Hong Kong Department of Health Centre for Health Protection announced in the middle of the night on the 5th, preliminary test results of a suspected imported cases of human infection with influenza H7 cases show that, the 7-year-old girl respiratory samples were negative for Influenza A H7 virus reactions.
