The Finance Strategic Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences today released the “2012 China Urban Competitiveness Report” which pointed out in 2012 Beijing’s economic performance was excellent, its comprehensive economic competitiveness helped it chair the leading position in the country, but the burden born by the city shall be reduced in the future.
In 2012, Beijing’s economic competitiveness was ranked No. 6 in cities across the country. According to the expert analysis, the Beijing excellent economic competitiveness was contributed by a large number of political, financial, technological and educational resources, which provided strong momentents for growth of the business entities such as finance, science and technology enterprises. Beijing’s economic influence had been extended to the whole Bohai Rim. In the development process, a large number of incoming population which had been increasing year on year and the rising resource consumption formed a serious challenge to Beijing’s infrastructure and urban environment. Thus the economic development faced the task of burden reduction.
The 2012 China Urban Competitiveness Report also provided the ranking of Top 10 Most Livable Cities: Hong Kong, Macau, Wuxi, Changzhou, Zhuhai, Suzhou, Weihai, Haikou, Zhenjiang and Zhongshan.
